Observed custodial employee not using sanitizer between guests, was using disinfectants which leaves a harsh residue. Repeat violation.

In room 807 the wall was separating from the ceiling. Damage in wall from the door in room 807. Broken floor tiles in room 1005 and in access elevator. Damage in bathroom and mold growing in room 201. Repeat violation. Water damage and some residue left in room 1005.

15A NCAC 18A .1827(g) A storage area shall be provided for building and ground maintenance tools and supplies and stored in a manner to aoid contamination of food and food contact surfaces, linen, and single-use articles. Observed storage areas on floors 10, 6, 4, 2 with incorrect storage order. Single-use articles (cup toppers) exposed to soiled linen, toilet paper and kleenex stored on ground, and clean glassware stored under shampoo/soaps. Contamination hazard.

Multi-use utensils such as glasses, cups, ice buckets, or ice bucket lids when used, shall be washed, rinsed and subjected to an approved sanitizing treatment, and stored and handled in a manner to prevent contamination. 15A NCAC 18A .1811 (b). Observed glassware throughout facility with residue, spots or smudges, indicating improper cleaning or dish machine not working properly.

Lavoratories shall have lighting with a minimum of 30 foot-candles of light at 30 inches above the floor. 15A NCAC 18A .1812 (a). Observed lighting less than 30 foot-candles at lavatories throughout facility, specifically 1005, 905, 706, and 604.

Observed house keeper on 7th floor with no QAC sanitizer spray bottle. Sanitizer dispenser in laundry tested and operating properly.The lavatory, its handles, faucet, and vanity shall be washed using an all purpose cleaner and rinsed daily if the room has been occupied. A sanitizer shall be applied to the lavatory and vanity using a method such as a wipe-on chemically-treated disposable sanitizing towel or equivalent. The sanitizer shall be left to air dry.Sanitizing solutions shall consist of iodophors, quaternary ammonium or other chemicals or methods that are equivalent to the action of 50 parts per million chlorine solution. 15A NCAC 18A .1809 (b).
